Travel by car:

We also drive to Spain by car now and again, It makes it possible for us without flight stress to decide on our own departure time. When we arrive in Spain we do not need to hire a car and can move about easily and without problem. You will also be acquainted with the maximum baggage allowance of 20 kg per person on the plane. You don’t have these stipulations when you take your own car. Take as much luggage as fits into your car and you avoid the hassle of checking in and out at the airport. Drive from door to door and enjoy the magnificent Alps, French landscapes as well as the wonderful view from the Spanish Mediterranean motorway during your journey. Of course a 2,755 km car journey is strenuous. From Berlin it takes about 28 hours. In addition to petrol costs, the motorway charges in France and Spain amount to 200€ for the journey both ways.

The car journey is already part of your holiday for apart from the magnificent landscapes, there are various possible stopovers: Paris, Barcelona and Valencia for example. Towns which one really ought to experience.

Travel by plane:

If you want to spend time at the Mediterranean sea and simply investigate the vicinity a combination of flight and car hire is advisable. The flight to Malaga from Berlin takes 3 hours. When you arrive in Malaga proceed directly either to a taxi stand or to car rental. From Malaga airport to Cotobro you need about an hour (87 km, 70 km of which are motorway). From Berlin the total journey time is 6 and a half hours.

The disadvantage of a flight is the expense. If you decide on a fortnight’s holiday for 4 people the flight costs can total 1,200€. At the same time your choice of luggage is greatly limited and you might well lose your nail case at the control if you’ve forgotten to remove it from your hand baggage.

A hired car at the airport costs about 40 to 100€ per day. The journey by taxi costs about 85€. If service and comfort are most important to you, you should decide on a flight plus hired car.
